WEEKLY MEETING NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

At our weekly meeting on June 16, 2017, Vice President Michelle Mullaly filled in for a traveling President Craig Young.  Michelle welcomed the 57 members and 7 guests to the meeting.  VP Michelle then asked everyone to keep Canton Rotarian Pat Gannon's wife, Carol, and family in their thoughts and prayers.  Pat passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017.  She asked everyone to take a moment and sign the sympathy card for the family.
 
PP Dan Matthews gave the Invocation.
 
VP Michelle then asked the members to consider making a contribution to the "tip jar" for the waitresses. Since a tip collection is usually taken in December and we will no longer be at this venue after June, we would like to show our appreciation to these fine women for their service to our members during every Friday meeting. A collection will also take place during the June 23rd meeting and a thank you card will be presented to each server during our last meeting on June 30th.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews then welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Michael Davy and Michaela Davy (Rotarian from Debay, FL); Ron Whitmer (Rotarian/guest of Mark Clendenin); James T. Boggs (Rotarian/guest of Dave Ewing); Kathy Myers (Rotarian); Dr. Rick Dumm (guest of PP Dan Matthews).
 
The "Happy Bucks" were then provided by the following Rotarian:
  • $5:  PP Rick Taylor - in recognition of the Massillon 28th Annual Cruise On In & Dance Party on Saturday, June 17. Fireworks at 10 pm;
  •  
  • $1:  PDG/PP Bob Pattison - in recognition of all the great work Bill and Melinda Gates have put forth towards the Polio Plus project. Bill spoke at the Rotary Convention this week in Atlanta.
Rotarian Mark Rojek then introduced the speaker for the meeting, Lisa Allen, from FedEx Custom Critical.
 
VP Michelle then let the members know next week's speaker will be Dr Sarah Bolton, President of the College of Wooster.
 
The following Rotarians will receive a makeup for working the "Backpack" program on Thursday, June 15, 2017:  VP Michelle Mullaly, Mark Rojek, Bill Liber and Bob Matthews.
 
The following Rotarians will receive a makeup for attending the "New Member" committee meeting on Friday, June 16, 2017:  Bruce Hale, Jim Molnar, Justin Candea, James T. Boggs (potential new member), Suzette Matthews, PDG/PP Bob Pattison, PP Dan Fuline, Mark Clendenin, PP Virginia Neutzling, Tony Pierce, PDG/PP Dave Ewing, and Ann Richards.
