At the weekly meeting on December 1, 2017, President Elect Michelle Mullaly welcomed the 68 members and 4 guests to the meeting. She asked anyone celebrating a December birthday to please stand and be recognized.
 
PP Rick Huetter provided the Invocation.
 
Past President Dan Matthews introduced his new member, John Kalogeras (*See story above).
 
President Elect Michelle then asked each Rotarian to please consider making a contribution to the Canton Rotary Charitable Fund. She let everyone know there were green slips on each table which could be filled out for their pledges.
 
  -  Michelle then announced to the members the upcoming "Pack The Bus" program on December 12th from 10am-2pm. The Rotary Club of Canton, along with 1480 WHBC and Mix 94.1, will help feed school children from the City of Canton for the holidays! Bring your non-perishable items to the Zimmermann Symphony Center, located next to McKinley High School, on December 12th. Canton City School District's poverty rate is nearly 100%. Please help provide food for our local children. Michelle stated she will also be in need of volunteer help to collect & distribute the food as well as. She will be providing further details at a later date.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews then welcomed these guests to the meeting: Jon Kendle (speaker); Dan Pelger (guest of Drew Pelger); Tim Manion (Rotarian Wadsworth); Richard Regula (Rotarian Massillon).
 
The "Happy News" was then provided by the following:
  • Bob Winther - in celebration of the 50th anniversary of he and his wife's first date;
  •  
  • PP Dan Matthews - in celebration of our new member, John Kalogeras;
  •  
  • Richard Regula - in celebration of his mom, Mary's, 91st birthday!
  •  
  • Dennis Dent - in celebration of being able to see everyone today;
  •  
  • Robert Matthews - in celebration of the OSU Buckeye win over Michigan.
Rotarian Don Peterson then provided the Rotofact for the day.
 
December Speaker Chair and Past President Karen Brenneman then presented her speaker, Jon Kendle, Archivist from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
 
Michelle then closed the meeting with the following announcements:
  -  next week's speaker will be Donn Angus, Canton City Director of Planning;
  -  reminder to contact the Rotary office if you plan to bring any guests to the Holiday meeting on December 15th.
 
The following Rotarians turned in a makeup during Friday's meeting: Mark Clendenin (Ravenna); Tom Sinclair (2 North Canton).
 
The following will receive a makeup for attending the One + One Foundation Celebration: Scott Barwick, Dave Ewing, Dan Fuline, Bruce Hale, Dan Matthews, Suzette Matthews, Jim Molnar, Virginia Neutzling, and Amanda Tietze.
