THOMAS AND TILLIE KINSLEY, OWNERS OF "THE CONNECTION" A WOMEN'S PERSONAL PROTECTION PROGRAM, WILL SPEAK THIS FRIDAY
Tom Kinsley is the founder of ‘The Connection - Women’s Personal Protection Program and Demo Team'. Tom has 42 years experience in the martial arts, and is an 8th degree black belt and Grand Master. Tillie also is a black belt. Tom was a trainer, a certified referee and a judge in kickboxing.  He previously taught martial arts in the Canton City Schools.

Tom and Tillie have done private/personal one-on-one training, as well as self-defense training for law enforcement, paramedics, fire-fighters, teachers, doctors, nurses, realtors, business professionals (men & women), seniors and young
adults.  They have also done presentations and demos for more than 65 groups, clubs, associations and churches, and have instructed over 3,000 women in self defense.
 
Some of the places where Tom & Tillie have taught 'Women’s Personal Protection' include Glenmoor Fitness Center, Louisville YMCA, Build A Body Personal Training in Green, First Merit Banks, Mercy Medical Center/employee training, Aultman Hospital/Bee Healthy program, and Tuxedo Training real estate training school. In addition, they are currently teaching public classes at Bethel Church in Canton, and have presented numerous community safety training classes sponsored by the Louisville Police Department.
 
They have gained the endorsement and support of local law enforcement and are members of The American Women’s Self Defense Association (AWSDA), as well as the Ohio Crime Prevention Association (OCPA).  They are also part of the Stark County Prosecutor’s Crime Prevention safety team, doing personal safety presentations for neighborhood associations.

"THANK YOU" LETTER RECEIVED FROM MAYOR THOMAS M. BERNABEI
In a letter dated April 25, 2016, Canton City Mayor Thomas M. Bernabei sent the following "Thank You" to the Rotary office.  The Mayor writes:
 
"Dear Paul, On behalf of the City of Canton, I wish to thank you and the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Canton for your check for $50,000.00 given to me on Monday, April 25, for the Market Square Project.  Additionally, this is to belatedly thank you for your previous check of $50,000.  I truly appreciate Rotary's extraordinary generosity and civic involvement in this project.  I will keep you apprised and involved in all aspects of the decision-making process with regard to the design and layout for Market Square as we proceed forward.

'THANK YOU' EMAIL RECEIVED REGARDING HEALTH SCREEN & WELLNESS FAIR
Sergeant-at-Arms Robert Matthews shared the following email dated on April 30, 2016, in regards to the Health Screen & Wellness Fair from Shaikh Abdus Samad.

WEEKLY MEETING NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
At our weekly meeting on May 13, 2016, President Paul White welcomed our members and guests to the meeting.
 
Rotarian Corey Voorman gave the Invocation.
 
Club Secretary Michelle Mullaly welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Mark Clark (guest of speaker Joshua Bowen); Ron Atkins, Trudy Atkins, Karl Schultz, Joan Schultz and Nancy Miller (guests of Becky Clark); District Governor Elect Sieglinde Warren; Past District Governor Larry Warren; Richard Regula (Massillon Rotary President and guest of President Paul White).
 
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians: 
  • District Governor Elect Sieglinde Warren - said it was very nice to be in Canton.  She also was very happy to see Amy Mustafaga because Amy does so much for the Youth Exchange Program.  DGE Sieglinde and her husband, PDG Larry Warren, brought chips and chip clips with a "Save the Date" reminder for the 2017 District Conference.

  • Lynn Hamilton - was very happy to announce his son, Phil, had graduated Magna Cum Laude from THE Ohio State University Medical School.

  • Amy Mustafaga -  was also very happy to announce that her youngest son graduated from Butler University with a Bachelors Degree.
President Paul then introduced Massillon Rotary President Richard Regula, who presented a scholarship check in the amount of $500 to the Rotary Club of Canton. This check paid off Massillon's 'bet' with Canton, since the Bulldogs beat the Tigers in last season's McKinley - Massillon game!

Youth Exchange Chairwoman Amy Mustafaga took to the podium and gave a plea to the members asking someone to please step up and become the host family for our incoming Youth Exchange student.
 
Rotary Scout Chairman Scott Sandrock was very pleased to welcome the Rotary Scouts and staff of the Belden Leadership School to the meeting.  On behalf of the Scouts, Scott then presented President Paul with a photo of the Scouts in their Rotary hoodies, which were purchased by the Rotary Club of Canton.
