Jeff Stocker is the Cleveland Indians Senior Manager of Tickets Sales. Mr. Stocker began his career with the Cleveland Indians in 2002 and Opening Day will mark his 15th season with the team.
As Senior Manager, Jeff leads an eight person staff in the sale and renewal of Season and Group Ticket plans. His primary expertise is Season Tickets, creating, developing, and executing ticket plans that have both immediate and long term positive impact on team revenue. Jeff also plays a significant role in Season Ticket service initiatives and collaborates with several other departments within the Indians organization to ensure Season Ticket Holders have a positive experience.
Jeff is a lifelong Indians fan so working for the Tribe is something of a dream come true. His favorite childhood memory is Len Barker’s perfect game in 1981. In more recent years his personal Tribe highlight was attending Indians playoff games with his grandfather, father, and son all by his side.
Mr. Stocker was born and raised in Canton and currently resides with his wife and children in North Canton. Jeff is deeply committed to youth sports and serves on the Board of Directors of the North Canton Little League. He has coached teams that in the past two seasons have claimed back-to-back district championships along with 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the state. Jeff has also coached youth basketball for many years.

At our weekly meeting on April 29, 2016, Canton Rotarian and Club Secretary Michelle Mullaly (sponsor) introduced our newest member, Max R. Barton II, to the Rotary Club of Canton.
Max Barton was appointed executive director of the Canton Museum of Art (CMA) in September 2014. The Canton Museum of Art is one of Ohio's premier visual arts museums, featuring an array of national touring exhibitions, original exhibitions created by CMA curatorial staff, and a wide range of education and community outreach programs. The Museum's world-class Permanent Collection is celebrated for its American watercolors and contemporary ceramics - a collection valued at nearly $25 million.
Barton served as CMA's associate director from 2013-2014, and he joined the Museum in 2012 as director of marketing and communications. A seasoned finance, operations, and marketing executive, Barton was previously director of corporate communications and strategic planning for Myers Industries, Inc. (NYSE: MYE) in Akron, Ohio, advancing through several leadership positions over 18 years with the company, including director of investor relations.
From 1991-1993, Barton served as a marketing coordinator for the College of Fine & Applied Arts at The University of Akron. He began his career in 1988 as education marketing and communications specialist for outreach programs at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville, Kentucky, coordinating statewide and national programs for performing arts and visual arts education.
Barton earned an MA in Arts Administration with a concentration in marketing and finance from The University of Akron. He holds a BA in Political Science/Journalism and Theology from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. Barton is a native of Louisville, and he and his wife, Nancy, retired marketing director from EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall, reside in Uniontown, Ohio. They are active owners in the thoroughbred racing industry in Kentucky and New York, and they are also owners of a rescued thoroughbred stabled in Massillon and under training for equestrian eventing.

Over the weekend, District 6650 had its annual District Conference. On Saturday, May 1, 2016, the presentation of District Awards was presented to the respective winning club for their submission. The Rotary Club of Canton was very fortunate this year to receive 4 out of 6 trophies!!

The Rotary Club of Canton won with their submission of the "Oktoberfest"
Bryce Webster Kendall Award for Club Service ~ This Award is presented annually to the Rotary Club, which completed the most outstanding CLUB SERVICE project in District 6650
The Rotary Club of Canton won with their submission of the Club's 100th Anniversary
The Rotary Club of Canton also received recognition for our contribution to cure polio worldwide.
To top off the weekend, our Health Screen & Wellness Fair with Mercy Medical Center drew over 100 people. We have been asked by Mercy to repeat this event in the fall.
In other news, how about Suzette Matthews bringing in $1,200 dollars with her run in the Hall of Fame Marathon which she competed in and finished!
It is with great pride that I represent the Canton Rotary Club as its President and I congratulate all Rotarians in the Rotary Club of Canton for bringing home all these awards and success. A special thank you to Lauri and Barb for their work in preparing the presentations to the District.

Suzette Matthews was very pleased to announce she DID finish the HOF marathon. Suzette stated due to all the support from her fellow Canton Rotarians we were "the wind beneath her wings for the last 4 miles". Suzette was very pleased to note the pledges/donations received from Canton Rotarians raised $1,200.00 for smoke detectors;
Richard Regula (Massillon) gave $2 towards the Happy Bucks because President Paul White reminded him the Massillon Rotary still owes $500 for the McKinley Bulldog win over the Massillon Tigers:
Tim Furbay was happy to announce it was a great Lacross day - his daughter was pictured in the Canton Repository for the Jackson Lacrosse team and he also noticed today's speaker's license plate uses "Locrosse" in it;
Bob Matthews was very excited to announce the pre-registration for the Health Screen was up 500% from the last event in November.
Club Secretary Michelle Mullaly introduced the newest member to the club, Max R. Barton II, Executive Director Canton Museum of Art (see story above for more details).
President Elect Craig Young took to the podium to announce a survey will be handed out to each Canton Rotarian. Your input will help take the club to a new level of "Service Above Self". He is asking everyone to participate in this survey. For those who do not complete a hard copy of the survey someone will be contacting you by phone for your input.
President Paul reminded everyone to bring a business card with them to next week's meeting. Your card will then be eligible for a Raffle prize drawing by next week's speaker, Jeff Stocker, from the Cleveland Indians!
