As part of our ‘Junior Achievement-In-A-Day’ project, on Tuesday, August 30, 2017, Rotarians Ron Becker, Jim Molnar, Tom Schervish, Bruce Schorsten, and Rick Taylor presented the ‘JA Hire Me’ program to 361 students at McKinley High School – Downtown Campus, while Teena Wilson was presenting the same program to 128 students as part of the team at McKinley - Main Campus. The JA ‘Hire Me’ program teaches the students about job readiness and employer expectations. In round 2 of our JA-In-A-Day project last Friday, September 16, 2017, Canton Rotarians Amanda Tietze, Bob Matthews, and Bruce Hale teamed up to mentor a class of 2nd graders at Allen Elementary School, presenting JA’ Our Community’. This program teaches the students about how businesses provide jobs, goods and services to a community, about performing a job to get paid, about government workers and taxes, voting, and how money moves through a community.

All these wonderful Canton Rotarians shared their real-life experiences and perspective with these students to reinforce the messages they were given through the JA curriculum.

Thank you and a free make-up to Ron, Jim, Tom, Bruce, Teena, Amanda, Bob and Bruce for being part of Canton Rotary’s Junior Achievement-In-A-Day project. If any new opportunities arise this school year to mentor Canton City students, I will let all Canton Rotarians know about…..….Rick Taylor, Chairperson, JA-In-A-Day Project.
