Interact

Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. Students connect with leaders in the community and around the world to:
  • Take action to make a difference in your school and community
  • Discover new cultures and promote international understanding
  • Become a leader in your school and community
  • Have fun and make new friends from around the world
Interact clubs organize at least two projects every year, one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding. Rotary club sponsors mentor and guide Interactors as they carry out projects and develop leadership skills.

There are currently 20,372 Interact clubs, 468,556 Interactors in 159 countries around the world.

The Canton Rotary sponsors an Interact Club in collaboration with Canton City Schools currently at McKinley High School and previously at Timken High. Some projects the Interact Club has been involved in the past include:

  • Helped collect books for kids in Canton City Schools.
  • Volunteered at Light Up Downtown to help decorate cards for soldiers serving in the military.
  • Christmas Caroling at Sarah Care.
  • Organized a party for Canton Pre-School.
  • Participate in the RYLA conference.
  • Participate in the Interact conference.
  • Received First Aid & CPR training.
Interact students can also earn a scholarship towards college by memorizing the "IF" poem by Rudyard Kipling. The funds for the scholarship are provided by the Edward & Ruth Wilkof fund.

Your donations to the Canton Rotary Charitable Fund help to introduce Rotary to young people. It develops a heart in them to serve others and do good in the community. Our hope is that these young adults will go on to eventually become Rotarians no matter where in the world life takes them.

To date, we have raised $10,397 for the Canton Rotary Charitable Fund. This is a great start and I thank those who have donated so far. If you haven't made your donation yet, it's not too late. We will continue to take donations thru the end of February. You can bring your donation to the regular Rotary meeting or drop off or mail to the Canton Rotary office.
