At our weekly meeting on July 22, 2016, Canton Rotarian and Past President Dan Matthews (sponsor) introduced our newest member, Rob Roland, to the Rotary Club of Canton.

Rob Roland is the Managing Partner of Day Ketterer and maintains an active practice of select clients.

Rob firmly believes that his clients are best served by concentrating on their businesses -- and not on fighting legal battles. Therefore, he applies sound business concepts to the practice of law and prides himself on keeping his clients out of the courtroom. However, when litigation is the only alternative, Rob works closely with a team of aggressive commercial litigators at Day Ketterer to achieve his clients’ goals.

For 30 years, Rob has provided legal advice to Ohio and national businesses.  His practice is primarily focused on business and banking law, employee stock benefit plans, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, business dispute resolution, and commercial real estate transactions.  Rob serves as general counsel for many well-known closely held corporations and non-profit associations. He represents banks and financial institutions throughout Ohio. In addition, he has taught college real estate courses and has been a frequent lecturer on business law concepts.

Rob began his legal career with Day Ketterer in 1984.   He was elected to the Firm's Executive Committee in 1992.  He was named Managing Partner in 2012.  Under Rob's leadership, the Firm has expanded across Ohio with offices in Canton, Hudson, Youngstown, and Toledo.

During his career, Rob has volunteered a great deal of his time serving the business interests of his clients in the community at large.  In 2007, he was elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce.  In 2008, Rob was one of three individuals appointed by the President of the Senate to serve on the Ohio State Commission on Local Government Reform and Collaboration.  As a Commissioner, Rob is charged by the State Legislature with the duty to develop recommendations on reforming and restructuring local government in Ohio in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of local government operations and to achieve cost savings for taxpayers.

When not practicing law, Rob is a dedicated audiophile, long-time member of the Canton Wine Guild, accomplished jazz pianist, maintains a significant library, and is a mediocre cook (but he is reporting slow but steady progress).
