During our meeting on June 30, 2017, PP Virginia Neutzling presented the Rotary International Avenue of Service Award to PDG/PP David Ewing.  PP Virginia had the following to say:

"Before I begin I want to recognize and thank Lauri for her help in compiling the information I needed to submit the request to Rotary International for the award we are about to confer.

Rotary International offers several methods by which clubs can recognize individual Rotarians for their efforts to serve.  One award is The Avenues of Service where a Rotarian has demonstrated significant service in all of the Avenues of Service - Club, Vocational, Community, International, and Youth.

The Canton Rotarian we are recognizing today has been a Rotarian since before some of you were born!!!  But trust me, where Rotary is concerned he is still young!

This Rotarian entered the Rotary Club of Canton in 1973, sponsored by his father, Past President and Past District Governor Stanley C. Ewing. He has more than 32 years of perfect attendance. He is a Past President of the club (1989-1990) and Past District Governor of District 6650 (1996-1997). He has served in many capacities at the district level, chairing many committees, and serving Rotary International Zone 29 as the assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator.

He has brought many new members into our Club.

He has never said no to any Rotary request and has been and still is a staunch supporter of Rotary involvement in and support of the community and its citizens.

He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member, a Benefactor to the Rotary Foundation, a Bequest Society member, and a Major Donor.  He has previously received The Citation for Meritorious Service and the Distinguished Service Award from Rotary International.

His many contributions to Rotary and to the community are too numerous to mention.  Let it be said that he has many times over proven his commitment to Rotary International, the Rotary Club of Canton, District 6650 and the local, national and international Rotary community.

The Canton Rotarian we are honoring with the Rotary International Avenues of Service Award is past president and Past District Governor David Ewing."
