At our weekly meeting on September 30, 2016, President Craig Young welcomed the members and guests to the meeting.
 
President Elect Amanda Tietze provided the invocation.
 
PE Amanda then welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Brenton Stull (guest of Ryan Parkinson); Gerhardt Zimmermann (guest of Michelle Mullaly) and Julie Nobile.
 
PE Amanda then stated in the next few days members would be receiving her Charitable Fund letter. Her goal this year is to raise $20k.  She also announced a collection bucket was being passed around to collect monetary donations for "Operation Warm".  With every $20.00 raised a brand new coat would be purchased to keep a child warm during the upcoming winter months.
 
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following:
  • Ryan Parkinson - was happy for Brett Stull, his co-worker from Time Warner Cable, on the birth of his new daughter;
  •  
  • Mark Clendenin - was pleased the North Canton Police Chief was the speaker for the meeting.  He was also very grateful to everyone who participated in his "$50.00 Louisiana Challenge".
  •  
  • Bruce Hale - On October 22nd the "New Member" committee will help install smoke detectors;
  •  
  • Karen Brenneman - was pleased to announce the 75th Anniversary of Hall Kistler which took place on September 20th;
  •  
  • Paul White - was happy to announce the upcoming Red Star Vet Clinic taking place on Sunday from 1-5pm;
  •  
  • Paul Feaser - was very excited for his grandson's golf team.  They will be heading to Arizona to compete in the PGA Jr. tournament;
  •  
  • Virginia Neutzling - was happy for the beginning of the upcoming Canton Symphony Orchestra season;
  •  
  • Amanda Tietze - was very happy her son was not injured in a car accident;
  •  
  • Stephanie Werren - was pleased to announce the 30th celebration at the Palace Theatre for Leadership Stark County.
President Craig announced there were PolioPlus forms at each place setting.  If you want to make a contribution please turn your form into Lauri/Barb.  The office will then insert your Rotary Membership ID#.
 
The Club's guest, Gerhardt Zimmermann, then took to the podium to discuss the benefit of being vaccinated as well as the continued efforts to eradicate Polio.  He relayed that he himself had contracted Polio in his youth and he stated if we do not continue with the efforts being made he sees this disease coming back with a vengeance.
 
Rotarian Shawn Dougherty then reminded the members about the upcoming Fellowship outing on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at The Canton Brewing Company.  There is no cost for attending this event and each individual would be responsible for any food or drinks they want to purchase.  Guests and potential new members are welcome.
 
President Craig then thanked September Speaker Chair Lynn Hamilton for the wonderful speakers he acquired for the month.  Lynn then took to the podium to announce and introduce the speaker for the day, North Canton Police Chief Stephen Wilder.
 
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Craig announced next week's speaker would be Bill Bryan from Timken Steel.  He also reminded everyone to mark their calendar for the Fellowship Outing on October 5th beginning at 5:30 pm.
