At our weekly meeting on November 4, 2016, President Craig Young welcomed our members and guests. President Craig asked everyone to keep Rotarian and Past President Jason McCoy in their thoughts and prayers.  Jason is recovering from a cracked shoulder.  President Craig then asked any Rotarian with a November birthday to stand and be recognized.
 
President Craig then informed the members about an upcoming Canton Kiwanis meeting. The speaker will be from Pegasus Farm, discussing their Veterans Project (*Please see story above for further details).
 
Past President Dan Matthews gave the Invocation.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Cheli Curran (guest of Chad Minor); Massillon Rotarian Richard Regula; Bill Smith (guest of Ernie Schott).
 
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians:
  • PDG/PP Bob Pattison - gave $5 in honor of hidden Nebraska fans;

  • PP Rick Taylor - gave $10 in honor of the Tribe, the great season that they had, and what outstanding role models they appear to be; Rick also appreciated President Craig mentioning a certain Massillon restaurant at the Massillon/McKinley Rotary meeting last week;
  •  
  • President Elect Amanda Tietze - gave $5 in celebration of her son getting his first job and her daughter making the 7th grade basketball team;
  •  
  • Lynn Hamilton - gave a happy buck in celebration of the McKinley/Massillon game meeting last week, mentioning that it's always a "hoot"; he also wanted to recognize that we finally have a Mayor with a sense of humor;
  •  
  • Massillon Rotarian Richard Regula - in recognition of the great Canton/Massillon Rotary meeting last Friday in Massillon;
  •  
  • PP Virginia Neutzling - was happy to recognize how the "New Member Smoke Alarm" project makes families in our community safer;

  • Suzette Matthews - in recognition of the 100 Year Rotary Foundation Cleveland Symphony concert and dinner in Cleveland on Sunday, October 25, 2016;
  •  
  • President Craig Young - in celebration of his 16 day adventure/vacation in Italy in October; he's happy to be back with his friends and fellow Rotarians;

  • Robert K. Matthews - in highlighting our own Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday, November 12, 2016;
  •  
  • Jim Molnar - to recognize "Service Above Self" of the "New Member Fire Alarm Project and to update Canton Rotary on the bike and money collected from the members and donated to the family affected by their house fire; and to recognize a man honored at the Massillon Rotary Club who Judge Elum had positively influenced 17 years prior.
President Elect Amanda then took to the podium to remind everyone of the Charitable Fund Drive. To date, she is showing 11% participation of the members and has raised $2,210.00, which is 11% of our goal.
 
Health Screen and Wellness Co-Chair Mark Rojek brought members up to date on the upcoming event on Saturday, November 12, 2016.  He stated they are in need of volunteers to make phone calls to past participants.  Anyone interested in making calls is asked to contact Sharon Sirpilla.  Mark also stated an email would be sent to every Rotarian regarding this event.  He asked that everyone print the flyer and give to a friend to help promote this event.
 
Speaker Chair Max Barton then introduced our speaker, Joel Harris, from TomTod Ideas.
 
President Craig announced next week's speaker will be Stephanie Kutcher, Client Service Coordinator for the Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery.
