At our weekly meeting on December 9, 2016, President Craig Young welcomed our members and guests to the meeting.  President Craig then asked everyone to keep Past President Ken Weber and his family in their thoughts and prayers.  Ken had been battling cancer and was just placed into Hospice care. (*editors note:  Unfortunately, as of this writing, Past President Ken Weber has succumbed to the cancer he has so courageously battled. The Rotary office will provide information by email pertaining to funeral arrangements when they are provided by the family).

Rotarian David Roberts then gave the Invocation.

Secretary Suzette Matthews welcomed the following guests to the meeting:  our speakers, Mike Novelli and Christy Brechtel; Becky Callahan (new member) and her husband Dan Callahan; Anthony Mollen (guest of John DeWees); and visiting Massillon Rotarian Richard Regula.

The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following:
  • Bruce Schorsten - to honor Rotarian Bill Sparks for his great contribution to the club with his piano playing talents each and every week;
  •
  • Vice President Michelle Mullaly - to encourage all to come to the Zimmerman Center on Monday, December 12, 2016, for the Lecture Series at Noon;
  •
  • Massillon Rotarian Richard Regula - to celebrate the $60,000 raised for the Regula Center & Scholarship and his father's recent birthday;
  •
  • PP Denny Fulmer - to recognize Frank Fleischer's son and his great "Rocktopia" TV event.
PP Dan Matthews (sponsor) then took to the podium to introduce his newest member to the club, Becky Callahan (*see story above).

PDG/PP David Ewing then presented the newest Paul Harris Fellow recipient, Mark Clendenin (*see story above).

President Craig then reminded the members that the Holiday "Tip Jar" for the wait staff would once again be passed around if anyone would like to contribute a monetary donation for these fine individuals who give exceptional service to us throughout the year.

Vice President Michelle Mullaly then brought the members up to date on our new "Uneventful Raffle".  She stated that tickets would be available for purchase at $25.00 each at our next Rotary meeting.  She also suggested that you take tickets with you to sell to your family, friends or co-workers. Money raised from this event will go to support the Rotary Club of Canton. (Editor's note: These would make great 'Stocking Stuffers' for your family and friends!)

President Elect Amanda Tietze then brought the members up on the Charitable Fund Drive.  To date, $6,780.00 has been raised.

PP Denny Fulmer then introduced our speakers for the meeting, Mike Novelli and Christy Brechtel from Aultcare, speaking on "Driving Change in Healthcare Delivery System".

Craig then concluded the meeting by reminding everyone of next week's Holiday meeting. He asked that you please RSVP any guests you plan to bring with you so we can make sure we have enough seating and food available.
