Malone active shooter training this Friday
Our lunch host will be conducting "active shooter" training in the Johnson Center (down the hill from the Brehme Center) this Friday before lunch.  Members should avoid the area and enter Malone via 25th Street.  Please do not be alarmed if activities are still going on at the Brehme Center until shortly before lunchtime.
Charitable Fund drive
Our annual Charitable Fund drive ends March 31. This fund supports our club’s philanthropic efforts and helps us assist many local organizations in our community as well as fund our own local projects.  The more that we raise, the greater the impact we can have.

President-Elect Jennie George has a fundraising goal of $15,000 this year.  With this fund, we support projects such as Polio Plus, the Philomatheon Society, RYLA, Interact, the Backpack Project, and so much more.

Donations can be made to the Canton Rotary Charitable Fund, PO Box 8300, Canton Oh 44711 or online.  Any donation of $150 or more entitles the donor to a complimentary item of Rotary apparel.

District officials needed
District 6650 is looking for new members of its Membership Committee.  (That is not a typo.)  Anyone interested should contact Maureen Drummond (Youngstown Rotary) at  330.506.8348.
Nominations for board members
Per Article III of our bylaws, President Paul Hervey appointed a nominating committee to bring forward officer and board candidates (including to fill vacancies).  The committee has nominated the following individuals to start terms on July 1, 2024:

Officers: Jennie George (president), Wilbur Allen (president-elect), Drew Pelger (vice president), Emily Callan (secretary), Tom Clevenger (treasurer), Bob Matthews (sergeant-at-arms), Bob Pattison (parlimentarian), Dave Ewing (assistant parlimentarian).
For a three-year term ending in June 2027, Brian Ohm, Becky Clark, and Kara Bond.
For a two-year term ending in June 2026, Jim Thomas and Jennie George.
For a one-year term ending in June 2025, James Boggs and Terri Berry.

These nominations will come forward at our club meeting on April 12, 2024.  Additional nominations will be permitted from the floor, but only if the nominee is present and accepts the nomination.  Any contested election shall be by secret ballot; otherwise, the secretary shall cast the sole vote.

Per Article III, the nominating committee had to have a majority of members not currently serving on the board or as officers.  The nominating committee consisted of Rick Taylor (chair), Greg Luntz, Drew Pelger, Sue Marzano, Wilbur Allen, and Jennie George.
Lunch meetings now at Malone and on Zoom
Lunch meetings are back to EVERY FRIDAY at noon at Malone's Brehme Centennial Event Center and always available via our Zoom Link.

Drive to the north parking lot above the Brehme Center and overlooking King Athletic Field.  Enter the building and walk through the hallway into Malone's cafeteria.  Pay for your meal ($9) and get your food, then join us in the south conference room.  If you arrive after 11:50 am, there may be a line of students waiting to pay.  Grab your food and remember to pay before you leave.

The second Friday of every month will be devoted to "club business" and be "speakerless."

Board meeting
The Board of Trustees will meet live and by Zoom on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 5:30 pm at Paul's office (4700 Dressler Ave. NW).  Board members should submit their reports by March 25 for distribution prior to the meeting.
Thank you for helping
Thank you to all who supported our contribution to both the Junior Achievement's Bowl-A-Thon and North Canton Rotary's Chili Open.  We raised over $500 for JA, which helps over 600 teenagers in Stark County learn about career possibilities.  Team Rotary included Andrew Oser, LJ Schneeberger, Rick Taylor, Mark Rojek, Drew Pelger, and Paul and Cameron Hervey.  The intrepid Pelger attended both events and the pre-bowling festivities helped him record his first-ever 200 game.
