Phillip Mariola is the wine steward for the City Square Steakhouse in downtown Wooster. His job includes tasting wines from many countries and choosing the wine selection for the restaurant. Before that he was a real estate broker in Wooster for 20 years. His company was called Wayne Heritage Realty which merged with Cutler Real Estate in 2004. Phil is a Past President of the Wayne County Association of Realtors.

Phil joined the Wooster Rotary Club in 1993. He served as club chair for Youth Exchange for four years, and on the District 6650 Youth Exchange committee for several years. He was the country contact for France and Belgium. In 2005-2006 Phil served as president of the Wooster Rotary Club.  Phil was selected to be the Group Study Exchange (GSE) Team Leader for an exchange with District 1750 in the Burgundy and Champagne regions of France for the 2009-2010 year. He was the District 6650 GSE chairman for 2011-2012, coordinating a vocational exchange with District 2630 in Mie and Gifu Prefectures in central Japan. Phil is a Past Assistant Governor for Division 3-A (Dalton, Millersburg, Orrville, Rittman and Wooster), one of his “favorite jobs” so far in Rotary. Phil and Bernadette have attended two Rotary International Conventions, the Centennial Convention in Chicago (2005) and the 2013 Convention in Lisbon.

Phil is a native Buckeye, born and raised in the Akron area. Phil’s wife Bernadette grew up in Paris, France. Phil and Bernadette were married in 1973 in Stow, Ohio. In 1983 Phil, Bernadette and their five children moved to the Wooster area and continue to live there today. Their children are all grown now and there are eight wonderful grandchildren. Phil has been active in the Wooster community, serving as PTA president of Franklin Twp. Elementary School, as well as on boards such as the Viola Startzman Free Clinic, the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Killbuck Watershed Land Trust. Phil and Bernadette have travelled extensively in France and Italy. They enjoy hiking and their hiking experiences include some beautiful excursions in Tapanti National Park near Orosi, Costa Rica and in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.
