At our weekly meeting on February 17, 2017, Past President Dan Matthews (sponsor) introduced our newest member, Scott Barwick, to the Rotary Club of Canton.

A native of Dayton, Ohio and a graduate of Chaminade-Julienne High School, Scott is married to his high school sweetheart, Angela, and is the proud father of a seven year old son, also named Scott.

Scott is no stranger to community service or to Rotary.  Before becoming the Program Administrator for the Stark County Fatherhood Coalition, which is a program of Ohio Jobs & Family Services, Scott owned and operated Scott's Training Center where he provided safety, health, and fitness training for eight years.

Scott is a graduate of the Government Academy of Leadership Stark County and is an advocate for those with developmental disabilities. He is a mentor for four students at McGregor Elementary, with whom he meets weekly for lunch throughout the entire school year.

Scott has provided weekly drum lessons to youth at the "Drop in Center" for the past four years.  He promises that a youth drum corps is now being formed in Canton.

Though Scott has never been a Rotarian (officially at least), for the last 12 years he has been a volunteer facilitator for our own District 6650 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference (RYLA) held in Warren.
