At our weekly meeting on Friday, October 13, 2017, President Amanda Tietze welcomed the 55 members and 10 guests to the meeting. President Amanda then asked members to please keep the following in their thoughts and prayers:
  • Rotarian Frank Fleischer, who underwent stomach surgery and is resting comfortably in Mercy Medical Center;
  • Rotarian Suzette Matthews' father, who is battling cancer;
  • Rotarian John DeWees, who is also battling cancer;
Vice President Mark Rojek welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Jennifer Meek Eells (speaker); Priscilla Sherer, Jim Sherer, Cindy Tibble and Tiwana Tibble (guests of Fritz Spring); Heidi Wallace (guest of Dean Wallace); PDG Meena Patel; Latricia Buchanan (guest of Dan Matthews); Gerhardt Zimmermann (guest of Michelle Mullaly); Alicia Bardelli (guest of Dick Nicely).
 
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following:
  • Max Barton - happy to announce the exhibit "Scrimmage" coming to a close at the Canton Museum of Art and that CBS was running a segment featuring that exhibit and the museum the next morning (10/14/17).;
  •  
  • Paul Feaser - very pleased to announce that his grandson, who is 14 years old, placed 2nd in the district high school golf tournament as a Freshman. He is the only Freshman in the state to place at the district level;
  •  
  • Ashleigh Abrigg - announced the upcoming Breast Cancer Fundraiser, "Night at the Races", happening last weekend (10/14/17);
  •  
  • PP Fritz Spring - Acknowledged former Rotary Exchange Student, Tiwana Tibble, who came back to visit his host family 40 years after his exchange experience;
  •  
  • President Elect Michelle Mullaly - was pleased to announce the start of the Canton Symphony season and to introduce her special guest, Gerhardt Zimmermann.
  •  
  • Bob Matthews - announced the upcoming Health Screen & Wellness Fair on November 18th and asked everyone to please consider signing up and spreading the word. 
President Elect Michelle Mullaly introduced her special guest, Gerhardt Zimmermann. Gerhardt spoke to the Club regarding his admiration and support of Polio Plus and his experience as someone who suffered from polio as a child. *President Amanda then informed the members of the Polio Plus donation forms which were located on each table.
 
Past President Craig Young then took to the podium to bring the members up to date on the final outcome of the Oktoberfest. PP Craig stated there were commemorative beer steins available for purchase. They are being sold for $5.00.
 
Speaker Chair Rob Roland introduced the speaker for the meeting, Jennifer Meek Eells. Jennifer is the CEO of the Stark/Tuscarawas County Workforce Initiative - Ohio Means Jobs Federal/State Program.
 
President Amanda concluded the meeting with the following announcements:
  • next week's speaker will be Judge Craig Baldwin, 5th District Court of Appeals and candidate for Ohio Supreme Court;
  • please see Lauri/Barb if you will be attending the Canton/Massillon Rally meeting on October 27, 2017 at the Alex D. Krassas Event Center. Please RSVP with any guests you plan to bring with you as well;
  • President Amanda also gave a"teaser" of an upcoming District Event and further details will be relayed at a future date (see article above).
