At our weekly meeting on September 9, 2016, President Craig Young welcomed the members and guests to the meeting. Canton Rotarians celebrating a September birthday were recognized.
 
Rotarian Chris Burt provided the Invocation.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews then welcomed the following guests to the meeting:  Rick Baldwin (Rotarian from Jacksonville, NC); Chuck Hoover and Rosemary Hoover (guests of Lynn Hamilton); Dave Crawford (guest of Steve Fettman); Nikole Compher (guest of Drew Pelger); Kevin Heraghty.
 
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following:
 
  • Bruce Hale - wanted to encourage Rotarians to sign-up for the Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 17, 2016.  Bruce also wanted to invite everyone to sign-up for "Operation Save a Life", which is the New Member Project on October 22nd.

  • Paul Feaser - was very happy to celebrate the success of his grandson who won a recent Drive, Chip & Putt contest. His grandson now qualifies for Iverness Golf tournament.  Paul would also like to thank Rotarians for the "Heart Walk" that was recently held.  He stated Rotarians donated $2,000 of the $5,200 that he raised.

  • Rick Baldwin (Rotarian from Jacksonville, NC) - was very happy to be in attendance.  Rick then presented to President Craig Young a Club banner from Jacksonville, N.C. Breakfast Rotary Club.  President Craig then presented Rick with a Rotary Club of Canton banner flag to take back to his home Club.

  • PP Rick Taylor - was very happy to welcome our special speakers, especially Reverend Dave DeVries, who purchased Rick's old house and has never called him with any problems.
PP Curt Werren then took to the podium to introduce the newest member to the Rotary Club of Canton, his wife Stephanie Werren.  (*Please see story above).
 
Mark Clendenin then made an announcement regarding the Louisiana $50.00 Challenge.  Mark is challenging each Rotarian to match his $50.00 contribution to help the flood victims of Louisiana. (*Please see story above for further details).
 
Vice President Michelle Mullaly then made an announcement regarding the upcoming Oktoberfest and informed the members that sign-up sheets were available.  She also reminded the Oktoberfest committee there would be a brief meeting immediately following the conclusion of the regular club meeting.
 
President Craig then concluded the meeting and announced next week's speaker will be Brent Rice, President of the Wooster Rotary.  Brent will speak on the "Korea Convention".
 
The following will receive a makeup for attending the August 30th special Board meeting: President Craig Young, Vice President Michelle Mullaly, Sergeant-at-Arms Bob Matthews, Trustees - Dean Wallace, Ryan Parkinson, Steve Fettman, Rebecca Marchino, Bruce Schorsten, Bruce Hale, Don Peterson, Assistant Parliamentarian Dave Ewing and Past President Paul White.  PP Dan  Fuline was also in attendance at this special meeting.
 
The following will receive a makeup for attending the Nominating Committee meeting on September 9, 2016: Paul Feaser, Mark Rojek and Lynn Hamilton.
